μα ποιος πονάει πιο πολύ;
------------------------------
Som dos, som tres
el rellotge, les vuit en punt
apaga el llum, guardià, endavant.
Tornaran quan es fa fosc.
Vés endavant, vés endavant,
i els altres et seguiran.
Llavors silenci i segueix
la mateixa cançó de sempre.
Peguen dos cops, peguen tres cops,
Peguen mil i tretze cops

We are two, we are three
the clock at the stroke of eight
turn the light off, guard, come in
they'll come again when it's dark
go ahead, go ahead
and the others will follow
then silence and it follows
the same old way.
They beat twice, they beat thrice,
They beat a thousand and thirteen times
You hurt, I hurt
but who hurts the most
time will tell.
We are two, we are three,
we are one thousand and thirteen
Riding the weather
with the weather, with the rain
the blood clots in the wound
the pain is like a nail
We are two, we are three
we are one thousand and thirteen
Riding the weather
with the weather, with the rain
the blood clots in the wound
the pain is like a nail
The avenger, the redeemer
we are two, we are three
we are one thousand and thirteen

Tha simanoun i kambanes (Θα σημάνουν οι καμπάνες) - Les campanes sonaran - The bells will ring

Tha simanoun i kambanes (Θα σημάνουν οι καμπάνες)

The bells will ring

With so many leaves, sun is beckoning you 'goodmorning'
With so many flags, it's shining, the sky is shining
And those inside, behind the rails (of prison) and those inside the soil (buried)
Be silent, in some minutes the bells will ring.
This soil is theirs and ours.
Under the soil in their crossed hands
they are keeping the bell's rope
They are waiting for the time, they are waiting to ring the resurrection
This soil is theirs and ours
No one can take it from us.
Be silent, in some minutes the bells will ring.
This soil is theirs and ours.

Το σφαγείο - The slaughterhouse - L'escorxador (Mikis Theodorakis)
A song in honour of Andreas Lentakis, jailed by the Greek military dictatorship (1967-1974).

---------------------------------------------------------

The slaughterhouse

At lunch they hit in the office
I count the knocks, I count the pain
I'm an animal, they locked me inside the slaughterhouse
Today it's me, tomorrow it'll be you

They knocked Andreas down, in the evening on the terrace
I count the knocks, I count the (spray of) blood
We will be together behind the wall, we'll be friends
Knock-knock it's you, knock-knock it's me

What's that saying?
In the language of a mute
I hold on tight, I keep up well

In our hearts the funfair begins
Knock-knock you, knock-knock me

Our slaughterhouse began to smell like thyme
And our cell became a red sky

--------------------------------------------------

L'escorxador

Avui toca a mi, demà toca a tu

Toc-toc toca a tu, toc-toc toca a mi.

Andreas Lentakis was an underground leftwing fighter who was jailed, tortured during the Greek military dictatorship (1967-1974). Mikis Theodorakis wrote several songs about him as a hero of the left-wing underground.
Another typical song is "Ímaste dió, ímaste trís" (which will be up in a couple of days).
