Why is the situation so complicated?
When the separation of my parents took place I lived with my mother and my big sister in the
family home in San Miguel in Ibiza.
It was a beautiful place and we had been very happy, until the day that all of this idyllic
peace broke apart and my dad told my mum he was divorcing her.
My mother tried to keep a brave face and she fought with everything she had to stay on the
island. She took on a job at a rent a car company in Siesta, had to work 6 days a week and
even so, with the meagre salary of 1000€ there was no possibility in keeping things afloat.
We asked the landlord to lower the rent but they only gave us 2 months and they told us we
would be out of there unless we could pay up. My mum tried so hard to keep things going
but we could both see that she was worried and weighed down by many sorrows. One day
she was looking at the bank statements and said, "I can't stay here. There is no way other
than going abroad." We all cried.
If you're not from Ibiza, you might not know that Ibiza is a place where everyone makes the
money in the summer, and in the winter people get paro. But since my mother is both a mum
and a writer, she had not worked enough months to claim paro. And because she knew
about the landlord threatening to throw us out, she was in a very vulnerable situation. So she
went and searched for a place where someone would employ her. That was her dream. To
find a job and be a good role model for us. She found a job in England. She wanted to take
us with her but my father prohibited her from doing so.
So this is why she is in England and we are in Ibiza. It was not her choice. It was a
necessity.
And because she had no money, she had to take an abogado de oficio, who made a divorce
agreement that was just not right.
This time without her was never planned to be longer than six months, when she wanted to
get us back, my father actually did not let us go and on top of everything he claimed that my
mother had abandoned us.
But this is not true. My mother is a good mother and wanted to show us what true valor is
and it is very sad that my father did not let me and my sister go to live with her when we
were younger.
In between, we changed our minds, as adolescents often do, but she always understood us
and did not complain. Then Katharina was sixteen and wanted to live with my mum again,
that was in 2018.
Everything had been arranged by my mother. A room was there. A bed was there. A desk
was there. My mum already had gotten us both a card for the local library as we both love
reading, as much as she does. Most of all Katharina had a place in the Sixth Form College in
Darlington.
But then everything got turned upside down. My father had promised to let Katharina go, and
in the end he didn't. Katharina and all of us were very very sad for a very very long time.
Without the permission nothing could be done.
Now, it is my turn. I'm fifteen and a half now and I want to live with my mum. Back then I was
a bit afraid of the change as I have lived so long without my mum. But now I'm ready to
embrace the change. And this time, we will do things right. Please help me finally live again
with my mum who I miss so much. Due to the legal case my father pressed against my
mother I haven't seen my mum almost a year.
Many people ask me why I need a lawyer and why I don't just leave. The thing is, my father
doesn't want me to leave and he tries to convince me that it's a bad idea just like he did with
my sister in 2018. I find it sad that I need to do this, but without the legal help I won't be able
to make my wish come true, to live permanently with my mother.

a flote.
dijo, "No puedo quedarme aquí.
Antes tenía miedo a
me queda otra. Sin ayuda legal no será posible hacer mi sueño realidad, no podré vivir de
forma permanente con mi madre.
